JOB INFORMATION | | Job Title: | Claims Examiner 4 | | Job ID # | J0095 | | Job Family: | Specialized Professional | | Reports To Position: | Senior Leader | | FLSA | ADMINISTRATIVE EXEMPTION | | PRIMARY PURPOSE | | The management of bodily injury claim files, both with and without attorney representation, including investigation, evaluation, and settlement of assigned claims. This position will handle DOT claims, pre-suit bodily injury claims, and lawsuits serving as a technical resource to team members for complex claim matters. Incumbents have up to $100,000 reserve authority; $75,000 settlement authority and $50,000 payment authority. | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS | | | | | |
Investigate, document, evaluate, and settle complex bodily injury claims in accordance with KNX Best Practices. | Deliver high-quality claim handling and superior customer service while managing indemnity and expense outcomes. | Direct internal and external resources to effectively evaluate and mitigate claims, ensuring timely and strategic resolution. | Develop litigation strategies and guide defense counsel on action plans to support favorable outcomes. | Assess claim exposure and prepare comprehensive written settlement recommendations. | Establish and maintain accurate reserves based on initial evaluations and ongoing claim developments. | Mentor and coach team members to enhance technical expertise and support professional growth. | Participate in after-hours on-call rotation to provide immediate direction for accidents occurring outside normal business hours. | Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives. |

Work Experience | Work Experience | 5+ years' complex claims experience required. | Claims experience in transportation industry preferred. |
Skills and Abilities | Must possess advance skills in liability and damage analysis with understanding of litigation process in both state and federal courts. | Must possess excellent negotiation and customer service abilities, ensuring fair resolutions and positive stakeholder engagement. | Must possess a proven ability to coach, influence, and persuade others to drive performance and achieve strategic outcomes. | Must be highly proficient in written and verbal communication, capable of presenting complex data to audiences with varying levels of expertise. | Must be dedicated to promoting a culture of trust, safety, and ethical standards across all claim-handling practices. | Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within fast-paced, team-oriented environments. |
